Dennis M. Abbott, DDS, is the director of pre-doctoral curriculum and integrated learning and an assistant professor at the Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine in Joplin, MO. Before joining the faculty of KCU-CDM, Dr. Abbott practiced dentistry for 25 years in Texas, where he was founder and CEO of Dental Oncology Professionals, an oral medicine-based practice dedicated to meeting the unique dental and oral health needs of patients battling cancer. In addition to his work in private practice, Dr. Abbott was a member of the dental oncology medical staff at Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and a consulting dentist at the Baylor Scott White Heart and Vascular Hospital and the Baylor Scott White Institute of Rehabilitation. He has also served as a consultant to the national office of the American Cancer Society and was an author of the Society’s most recent Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Care Guideline.
