Dr. Schapira received a BA in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Iowa and her DDS from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. She completed a 1-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington DC and then served as a staff dentist for the United States Air Force from 2005-2017. During this time, she provided comprehensive dental care at assignments located in Washington DC, England, Charleston, SC and Colorado Springs, CO. From 2011 to 2012, Dr Schapira served as a dental advisor to an Afghan trauma hospital in Gardez, Afghanistan, training 4 Afghan nurses on dental procedures and overseeing dental care of 7,000 Afghan trauma patients. In 2017, Dr. Schapira made the switch to Reserve status and currently holds the position of Associate Clinical Professor, Department Chair of the Comprehensive Care Clinic, and Group Practice Leader at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine.
